Liver Powers Activate: Morning Detox Greens

Suppose your doctor tells you, on your next visit, that he has just discovered a miracle drug. When eaten as a part of  your daily diet or taken  in juice form, could, depending on the peculiarities of your body chemistry: prevent or cure liver diseases, such as hepatitis or jaundice; act as a tonic and gentle diuretic to purify your blood, cleanse your system, dissolve kidney stones, and otherwise improve gastro-intestinal health; assist in weight reduction; cleanse your skin and eliminate acne; improve your bowel function, working equally well to relieve both constipation and diarrhea; prevent or lower high blood pressure; prevent or cure anemia; lower your serum cholesterol by as much as half; eliminate or drastically reduce acid indigestion and gas buildup and at the same time, have no negative side effects and selectively act on only what ails you…..RUN-ON-SENTENCE  ::gasps for breath::  If he gave you a prescription for this miracle medicine, would you use it religiously at first to solve whatever the problem is and then consistently for preventative body maintenance?

……one of my favorite Detox Greens and a key ingredient in my favorite morning meal. For over a year I have included this miracle green into a delicious warm green soup I start my day with 2 x 3 days a week. It keeps me on point, aids in energy and it’s great for the liver.

In an attempt to keep this post short….like your waning attention span……I am also falling short on time these days…… I’ll get right to the recipe….”she’s”…..very simple.

Could you just rummage through your local produce section and munch on some on the way to the checkout? Yes. You would also look crazy and it will not taste great. Bare with and I’ll give you at least 2 simple ways to incorporate this food into your food paradigm.

 Self named title: Buttery Breakfast Greens

 What you’ll need

Veggies

7 slices of Organic Cucumber

5 large Romain lettuce leaves

3-5 dandelion green leaves

1 cup of Kale

1 endive

 

Fats

1 large Table spoon of Ghee (clarified butter) or Grass fed butter to those who are not sensitive to dairy

1-2 range free Egg Yolks

 

Spices/flavorings

Sea salt

Turmeric

 

 

Directions: 

Step 1

Add one inch of water to a stove top pot, bring water to a boil and quickly cook veggies for 2 ½ minutes ( veggies only * save the butter or oil to add later)

 

Step 2

Place ingredients including water into your blender of choice (Vitamix, Nutribullet, or Blendtech)

FUN FACT: * Remember when we boil,  some of the best nutrients are leeched out into the water we use to cook them, this can be prepped as a cup of warm nutritious broth or added to the meal…..you will always benefit either way.

 

Step 3

Add your fat of choice, 1 table spoon of grass fed butter, Tumeric ( ½ tea spoon ) be liberal with anti inflammatory agent), and ½ teaspoon of sea salt or more

 

*Don’t worry about water retention with the salt. Sea salt has a perfect balance of minerals and will not cause fluid retention or swelling as table salt does. The reason this happens is the sodium chloride or table salt is heated to 1200 degrees, all the minerals are separated, and removed. essentially it’s a modified food…..that’s correct….a gmo which your body responds to with heightened blood pressure and water retention.

 

Step 4. Blend for 35-60 seconds and pour into your favorite mug to drink immediately. * see note below

 

Step 4B. As an option for a solid meals: Simply plate your greens, add your fat and spices. And serve as a warm salad- perfect side dish to eggs and bacon.

 

* When we blend in a high powered blender…we oxidize. This makes the food very bioavailable for digestion but will also render it null and void of nutrients after a few hours…..In short it’s best to be consumed after blending has taken place.

 

The end result is a buttery, warm, soup which will essentially feel like a hug from mother nature…..Or Ghandi. It’s easy to digest, it’s very satiating, and good for you. Don’t be scared of this item in the store any longer…..pick some up, go slow….. as too much can sometimes really get things “moving”! Consider yourself informed.
